一如往常的艷陽下日,看到坐落在荒草之間的藍色一條龍建築,屋頂只剩下鋼架及殘破的浪板,隔著玻璃門可以看到樓板上吊掛著因為滴水而生的水柱及地面上尚存的積水。室內的樓板更是因為常年的浸水,水泥表面的沙質化及樓板上露出的鋼筋鏽蝕狀況嚴重。但隨著狹小的樓梯上到二樓,視野帶你到另一個世界,海面在一片綠中浮現,透藍且閃閃發光,與天際連成一片,雖然頭頂著豔陽,但卻因為陣陣的微風,炙熱感瞬間消失。透過一個一個的門洞,望見末端的大榕樹,雖然尚未確定是否可以擁有,但設計的想法已經一點一點的成型。
這樣的廢墟,拆除重建是一般的處理,但拆掉後的廢棄物應如何處置,造成的環境破壞如何的衡量,法規面的檢討,但對於老物的喜好,及初見面時的微妙感覺,讓我決定留下這殘破的建築主體,以為整體設計的開始。
台東是台灣最遠的地方,物資上及人力上都是最缺乏資源及支援的,如何在一定的時間內完成整改工程,是在決定使用材料及工法上的最重要因素。廢墟在構成可居住的建築條件上,主要欠缺的是”遮風避雨”,所以只要解決這問題,基本上就完工了。幫廢墟加上一件”雨衣”,是設計上主要的議題,這也是屋頂/雙層牆想法的成形,只是在加上這個外殼時,我們希望跟主體建築是有些許的分離,這樣可以同時讓這個建築體可以”呼吸”。
花東區域,除了鋼筋水泥及磚造建築,大量的鐵皮屋也是一大風景。一般的印象中,鐵皮屋是亂的,醜陋的……,但在各式的建築雜誌中,卻在在可以看到使用”鐵皮”為建築呈現的案例,同時在營建時間的考量下,”鐵皮”似乎也就當然的、順理成章地成為建材的選項了。建築內的處理,以保留建築原本的樣貌為要,採用水泥板及水泥粉刷來搭配,以不增加太多元素為原則。需要使用木板的部分,盡量採用舊料加工。以舊搭廢。
尹將,廖偉壯,阿美族名:injohn,畢業於臺東公東高工木工科,1987年在木工廠從事家具製作,1995年轉業室內裝修,大約1999年開始涉獵建築,是主導整個項目的靈魂人物,他讓設計想法的各式細節,可以實實在在扎實的呈現,也讓整個的整改項目,可以有效的在七個月內完成。一個好的設計,不能沒有好的執行工匠團隊。尹將在這個缺人缺資源的地方,以他製作家具的精細度來執行建築,難度之高,但成果卻是令人可以期待的。
楊上緣,在建築設計的發想及發展,有許多有效意見的提出。施工期間七個月的現場盯場,也跟尹將有許多的討論及爭執,這些在建築呈現上都可以被一一的檢核。
Located at the most far end of Taiwan, seated by the Pacific Ocean. It has been abandon for more than decade. The condition was bad yet standing. The sequence of the space is simple and interesting, fully responding to the environment in a direct and easy way.
What is the most important element for the ruins to keep standing? And how to finish the project in a reasonable time and budget? These are the key issues for this project. To build the second skin is our strategy and not to attached but leave a gap to let the air wonder freely thru the building. Metal cladding has been a major building material in Tai Dong, mostly for temporary buildings. But it’s eco and can be built under the system and FAST! Once we set the system and major design solution, the inside of the building we have decided to keep as it is. And use most of the recycled materials to match the RUINS.
Injohn is the key person in the project. His profession is wood working, started his career as a furniture maker, move on to the construction work on 1999. To finish a building work with a furniture making spirit, there are a lot to talk about. And thanks to his effective management to make the project done in 7 months.
