相較鄰近台北生活的節奏匆忙，在一日生活圈範圍內的宜蘭，有望不盡的綠意和悠閒自在的步調。是宜蘭的獨特氣質，也是生活繁忙的城市人所羨慕的自由生活。

位於宜蘭市東邊鐵路高架橋下的自行車道，沿著舊鐵路地基，拉出一條長700m的帶狀公園，一路向北可接上宜蘭火車站丟丟噹綠色交通系統，讓騎乘自行車的同學上下課更安全方便、友善的通道，讓任何一個入口都是社區居民運動散步的起點，微涼傍晚，吃飽飯後的悠閒散步才是一種宜蘭的在地幸福。

宜蘭市鐵路高架化後，鐵路橋橋板成為一大型的遮雨篷，為多雨的宜蘭留出一條可在雨天散步騎車的廊道，基地的南、北端銜接下了國道之後的快速道路及省道，提供遠道而來的自行車客漫遊宜蘭的入口。鐵路橋自然而然成為實踐設計，最有力的先天條件。基地裡原有抬高的舊鐵路地基，在不需外運客土的情況下，捏出起伏流動的親切空間。步道捏的高一點可以眺望一片綠油油的稻田，或是傻傻地跟火車競速一較高下；捏的低一點、開闊一點，便成了休憩廣場；鋪面顏色、地形、座椅及像是小白花的燈具，都友善地跟周邊社區、地景發生關連，親切地讓活動延伸進來。植物的生命力讓空間有了朝氣，隨風搖擺的枝條則讓空間充滿動感，恣意綻放的花叢及花香吸引了來往的人們，忘卻鐵路橋龐大結構的存在，而各式果樹上掛滿的果實，體醒豐收時節的到來，讓這收成的喜悅，瀰漫、勾起因都市化而逐漸消失的純樸氣息，進而引發對環境的關心照料，重新找回人們對生命的感覺。

In comparison to the fast-paced lifestyle of neighboring Taipei’s, residences of Yilan enjoy endless greenery and a leisurely lifestyle. It is a unique feature of the Yilan way of life, unencumbered by the burdens of urban living and surely envied by the city folks.

The bicycle lane under the elevated railway track on the east of Yilan City follows the old railway tracks and develops into a 700 meters long linear park. It connects northward with the Yilan Train Station and Diu Diu Dang’s green traffic system. A friendly passageway that allows students to bike to and from classes more safely and conveniently, its multiple entry points allow residents in the neighborhood easy excess to exercise and walks. A leisurely walk along the park after a full meal at dusk provides a particular kind of happiness to the residences of Yilan.

The elevation of Yilan city’s railway bridge provided a large rain shed providing shelter for strollers and bikers. Expressway and state highway are connected to the southern and northern edges of the railway bridge, creating an entrance to Yilan for travelling bikers. Naturally the railway bridge became the site for further design exploration.

There was originally the old and elevated railway foundation on site, and without the need for excavation, we molded an undulating, flowing, and friendly space. We created a slightly higher mound allowing views to distance fields of green paddy, or act silly and race with the bustling train. We molded the pathway a bit lower and more open, creating a resting plaza. The flooring colors, topography, seating and lighting that look like little white flowers all make friendly contacts with the nearby neighborhood and landscape, kindly letting the activities extend inward. The liveliness of plants allows for a vibrant space; their swaying branches make the space fully dynamic. Blooming flowers and their fragrances attract people passing by, letting them forget the enormous existence of the railway bridge’s structure. Fruits hanging from trees point to a harvesting ahead. Let the joy of harvest extends outward, evoking a sense of simplicity gradually disappearing due to urbanization, and in turn initiate a care for the environment and other life beings.
