簡潔而具詩意，在炎熱的南臺灣的住宅，也是一個都市裡的retreat。這個房子不只是家人居住的家，也是這家人提供教會小組聚會的家，有家人每天固定的起居生活，也會有教會的營會、烤肉、戶外婚禮、營火晚會。業主曾經有住過木構建築的美好經驗，期待能使用木構造。在非常有限的經費之下，我們需要使建築造型及構造非常簡潔，空間在簡潔中又有驚喜。而且要適應南台灣炎熱的氣候，隔熱遮陽通風是必須的。
以CLT Mass Timber木構造為主體結構，可以大幅縮短工時，減少工資及施工的誤差。熱浸鍍鋅鋼管組成的雨遮陽台形成外皮層，保護南北向的大面開窗。
Renewable Materials（再生建材）& Prefab（預製）是未來趨勢，也是我們最近一直試驗在台灣實踐的可行性。
Prefab預製的工法運用在CLT木構建築，組裝圖的概念如同Lego，也如同Ikea的家俱組裝。使用適合南台灣氣候樹種的種植，草地灌木樹林多層次的植栽景觀以及生態水池的設置，希望能重建棲地，使得生態多樣。台南仁德李公館被隱喻聖經中雅歌園的花草樹木圍繞，我們挑選適合台灣的氣候的植栽：落羽松、相思樹、橄欖、蘆葦、百合花、石榴花、鳯仙花、菖蒲、桂樹。

Located in hot southern part of Taiwan, Lee’s residence is a poetic single family house with simple geometric forms. Additionally, it is also an urban retreat and a gathering place for the families’ friends from church. The house provides spaces for daily family life, youth summer camps, BBQ and outdoor wedding for church friends.
The clients had wonderful experiences living in wooden houses. They expected the new house to be made of wood as well. Under a very tight budget, the design intent was to keep the building simple and easy to construct. Simplicity in form but rich in spatial experience was the criteria.
The Building system is provided by Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), even though CLT construction is a new construction method in Taiwan. CLT is a very efficient construction method in terms of construction time, accuracy, material waste and noise reduction. Renewable material and prefabrication are trends of the future in architecture. We have been applying CLT in our recent designs to test the possibility of prefabricated construction in Taiwan.
In response to the hot and humid climate in Tainan, a house with adequate ventilation, sun shades and proper insulation are critical in design. Along the south and the north elevations, large openings with patio doors are shaded by CLT canopies supported by galvanized steel pipes. Vegetation is well planned to fit into this near tropical site. The landscape design consists of lawn, shrubs, trees and an ecological pond to provide natural habitat for butterfly, dragonfly, birds and frogs. The landscape in Lee’s residence is a metaphor of the biblical garden. Cedar tree, koa tree, olive tree, lilies, pomegranate, impatiens and cinnamon are planted in the garden surrounding this house.
