台南竹溪月見橋是以竹的生長型態作為主要的設計概念,延續台南古都木構造材料的傳統,在竹溪公園中心河道拓寬處,連接河岸兩側都市的紋理與機能,讓竹溪的景致更有層次。

台南竹溪月見橋以曲/拱橋的型態,日本唐松木集成材空間桁架與上下弦鋼構組成主結構系統。台灣的氣候潮濕,木材含水率及防腐處理的控制是非常重要的,集成材的含水率可控制在15%以下,不容易發生製造誤差或變形而產生龜裂。而集成材的「單位重量強度」比鋼構或混凝土大,使得整體重量更輕量化。在材料上鋼構需要防火被覆或防火漆,集成材能在火災時本身的表面形成炭化層來發揮防火效果。在受熱變形上,集成材是進行一百度以上的高溫乾燥後膠合的木材,導熱係數是混凝土的1/11,鋼構的1/350,所以集成材是比鋼構或混凝土更不受温度變化的材料。

The “Moon-Viewing Bridge” in the Tainan district of Zhuxi uses the growth pattern of bamboo as its main design concept. The project continues a long tradition of wood construction in Taiwan’s ancient capital city of Tainan.

The Moon-Viewing Bridge has the form of a curved arch bridge. The material used is high-density laminated timber (CLT) made of Japanese Larch. The timber panels together with the upper and lower chord steel wires form the main structural system. The special design of the curved arch bridge and the space truss increase the strength of the bridge’s structural mechanics. Taiwan’s climate is very humid, thus it is very important to control the moisture content of the laminated timber, and also use anti-corrosion treatment. The moisture content of glulam can be controlled below 15%, and it is not prone to manufacturing errors or deformation and cracking. The “strength per unit weight” of laminated timber is greater than that of steel or concrete, making the overall weight lighter. The steel structure needs fireproof coating, but the laminated timber forms a carbonized layer on its surface in case of fire and has a natural fireproof effect. In terms of thermal deformation, high-density laminated timber is wood that has been glued after drying at a high temperature of 100 degrees or more. The thermal conductivity is 1/11 of that of concrete and 1/350 of steel. Therefore, high-density laminated timber is much less prone to temperature changes than steel or concrete.
