Site condition
This project is situated on a narrow and long site, 9M×27M. The narrow side is facing Taipei’s busiest Zhongxiao East Road. The layout of the design consists of a light well placed in the center. The front and rear units are arranged to allow natural ventilation and daylighting in the interior spaces.
Diversity of uses between living and working spaces
With a rapid changing society and the advancement in technology, the work spaces have become diversified. In the era of the covid-19 epidemic and beyond, working from home has become common place reducing the frequency of commuting. Therefore, this project is based on the concept of diverse use of living and working spaces, breaking the typical single usage of home or work use in the past, thus creating a new type of architecture that integrates multiple usage and function.
Form and atmosphere
The design of the facade attempts to properly delineate the slim volume aesthetically. The task is firstly to arrive at a proper proportioning for the slim volume that does not appear abrupt; and secondly, the façade has to act as a metaphor for the diverse internal uses where living and working spaces overlap.
In addition, there is the expression of solid and void by using stone wall and permeable metal plate as contrasting design elements. This is an attempt to create an atmosphere for living and working, and constructs a light and heavy layered aesthetics.
Landscape Architecture: Green, Light, and View
We start with concept of the façade as an "urban landscape". The design utilizes the technique of overlapping solids and voids. Placing green elements on the facade frame and plantings on the terraces that gradually setback. This is architecture of greenery within the urban fabric, creating a green view from the interior space. In addition, metal facade panels composed of different openings allowing light to filter through to the interior and forming an aesthetic of light in the evening.
狹長基地——街屋天井配置
9M×27M的細長基地，窄面正對北市最繁忙的忠孝東路，設計上採中間天井式之前後戶配置，以達到室內空間通風採光之作用。
居住與工作的多元兼用
隨著社會變遷以及科技網路的發達，工作型態亦隨之多元。而在疫情時代之下，居家工作降低通勤頻率，也成為一種常態的工作形式。因此本案以「居住」及「工作」兼用的概念為基礎，突破以往制式之居家或工作的單一使用型態，創造交疊使用屬性的建築新型態。
形式與氛圍
立面形式嘗試將細長的立面做適恰的美學分化，一來解決過於細長的突兀比例問題，二來也隱喻著居住與工作兩者使用交疊的內部使用狀況。此外，以「實」——「石材牆體″」及「虛」——「透空金屬板」 做為比對的設計元素，試圖形塑兩種使用的型態兼用的形式氛圍，建構輕與重的層疊美學。
風景建築——綠、光、景
以「都市風景」為論述起點，於立面採實虛錯置，於框體中置入植栽花槽，並以漸次退縮之露台種植綠樹，形構成整體建築於都市中的綠風景，亦成為內部空間的綠景！此外，堆疊體中的金屬洞光，以大小不一的孔洞設計，建構都市中光的隙縫，進而形成夜間的洞光美學！
