由芬蘭建築師Marco Casagrande設計的「終極廢墟」，位於台北市一處梯田與叢林相接的綠色山坡上，原為被遺棄的紅磚農舍，經由與Marco Casagrande密集地對話，成為一戶三代同堂的休憩地。化身為木造建築有機體的終極廢墟，在設計過程中，建築師透過叢林、廢墟和在地知識的現場引導下，即興發揮，以當下最直覺的反應進行創作。Marco Casagrande解釋：「第一個建築性的動機是打造一張可以讓我們圍繞著談話的桌子，然後是為這張桌子蓋個遮蔽物，終極廢墟的其他部分都圍繞著這一開始的創作而生。我們持續在對話中，終極廢墟就持續以開放形態成長發展。」

一系列多功能的空間和平台結合了各類住宅機能而打造，也適應著不同節奏的生活調性：不同高度的木造平台十分適合用來冥想思考；綠映、爐火、桑拿則各自展現了不同向度的活力。整體建築空間結合了室內和室外，內外之間的連續性富有彈性，室內即是戶外，並且讓森林進入房子中。Marco Casagrande將這件作品視為後廢墟狀態，讓人類回到廢墟房子，與叢林共享空間。

終極廢墟的使命，是在闡述Marco Casagrande所提出的「第三代城市」。當微型氣候建築和地景都市景觀成為規劃城市的主軸，現代建築自然會變成廢墟，因應工業時代所建的城市也終有一天會走向相同的命運。建築除去不必要的裝飾、華而不實的機械、無關緊要的整理修繕後，便是廢墟；廢墟是殘餘，不隨摩登、時尚搖擺，是亙古的光影、空間、元素材料、構造和時間匯聚而成。廢墟結構裡，可以看到一種均衡的亂象，崢嶸混亂與和平同生。人是大自然的一部分，廢墟便是當人造之物成為大自然的一部分。

Located in Taipei, the Ultra-Ruin, in Casagrande’s words, is “a wooden architectural organism that grows from the ruins of an abandoned farmhouse in a meeting place between terraced farmlands and the jungle.”

Developed in a close dialogue with the client as a retreat for a three-generation family, the Ultra-Ruin occasionally opens up for larger gatherings. The design was improvised on site: “The first impulse was to build a table around which we could talk, then to create a shelter for this table. The rest has grown around it. We keep talking, and the Ultra-Ruin keeps growing as an open form.”

The interior merges with the exterior creating “a post-ruin condition where man returns to a ruined house to share it with the jungle.”
