This article discusses the designs of three completed libraries by Alvar Aalto attached to The Säynätsalo Town Hall, The University of Jyväskylä, and The National Pensions Institute respectively, during the 1950s. It outlines his attempt and development to continue the idea of the Viipuri library while he responded to the transformation in the United States and Finland’s Reconstruction after the war.
