吳明修建築師設計臺北醫學大學創校三棟建築,是台灣建築「粗獷主義」重要的代表作。本次修復其中之一的教學大樓為1963年完成,東立面為垂直混凝土格柵,西立面強調水平面帶狀連續感,南北向立面遮陽板;工法材料為粗獷清水模、紅鋼磚、抓紋磚及白牆。
本棟非登錄文化資產,但仍以文化資產的態度修復。試圖恢復及保留空間的粗獷理性精神及細微的材料關係,並提出五項修復策略:
保留
保留二、三樓原始赭紅色地坪、各部構件及銜接處細緻脫縫、後期增建之結構牆體。
恢復
恢復被上漆的清水模各構件,全面剝漆,如:柱、樑、連通廊、女兒牆、垂直格柵及水平板構造。
修復
修補混凝土格柵、牆面多處破損及裂縫、立面脫落紅色抓紋磚;修復一樓地坪,原始範圍為灰色地磚,其餘後期增加為抿石面材;窗台紅鋼磚破損修補、外牆漆面以礦物漆修復、走廊漆面以水泥漆修復。
保護
剝漆後混凝土面噴塗透明保護劑、女兒牆增加不銹鋼滴水板、重新施作屋頂防水層及新增隔熱磚。
新增
採金屬管重新配置各系統管線。採金屬板設計欄杆,仿當時建材低調介入。後期增加電梯以灰色金屬包板降低衝擊。屋頂層以鋪面及欄杆區分活動使用範圍。
Wu Mingxiu architect designed initial three buildings of Taipei Medical University, which was an important representative work of "Brutalism" in Taiwan architecture. The teaching building to be restored this time was completed in 1963. The east façade designed with vertical concrete grille, the west façade emphasizes the continuous sense of horizontal strip, and the north-south façade planed with sun visor. The construction material is brutal fair-faced concrete, red steel brick, scratched brick and white wall.
This building is not registered as a cultural asset, but it is still restored as a cultural asset. Trying to restore and retain the brutal and rational spirit of this building and the subtle material relationship.
We proposed 5 repair strategies:
Preservation
Preserve the original ochre red floor on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Keep all components and joints in detail. Retain the structural walls added later.
Restoration
Restore the painted fair-faced concrete components, completly stripping off paint, such as: columns, beams, connecting corridors, parapets, vertical grilles and horizontal slab structures.
Repairation
Repair the concrete grille and wall with multiple damages and cracks; repair the red scratched bricks on the façade; repair the first floor, in original areas used with gray tiles, and in the added later areas used with terrazzo; Repair the damaged red steel brick on the window sill; repair exterior wall paint with mineral paint, repair corridor paint with cement paint.
Protection
After stripping off paint, sprayed transparent protective agent on the concrete surface. Added stainless steel drip board to reduce vertical contamination. Re-applied roof waterproofing and added insulating bricks.
Addition
Using metal pipes to reconfigure each system pipelines. Designing railings with metal plates, imitating the materials at that time with low-key intervention. Covering the elevator added later with gray metal plate to reduce the impact. Pavement and railings is used to distinguish the range of activities on the roof layer.
