The injection of energy from a younger generation deserves special attention in this exhibition. With the exception of familiar names like Wen-Chieh Chiu and Fieldoffice Architects, most participants are rare or even first-time entries into Tectonic Becoming, demonstrating the curator's new curatorial direction and special intention. They include Pu-Ming Tseng, Ming-Hsien Wang, David Lee(JJP Architects & Planner), Cho-Jen Huang, Ting-Kai Weng, Wen-yuan Peng, Jia-Hui Day and Hsin-Ping Lin. In particular, the General Village in Hsinchu by first-timer Pu-Ming Tseng is distinctive in its juxtaposition of new and old, proposing a fresh approach to the restoration and adaptive reuse of historical architecture. My interview with Ting-Kai Weng and Kuan-Fan Chen on the Enishi Resort Villa Project placed special emphasis on discussing the construction process; this was a true highlight among all the interviews I have done and I highly recommend giving it a read.
